Brooklyn Manufacturer Lee Spring Featured At The National Manufacturing Innovation 2012 Conference Earlier This Month

SpringsIn his opening keynote speech at the national Manufacturing Innovation 2012 conference, Roger D. Kilmer, the Director of the Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP), a program of the Department of Commerce's National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), played the video, "Manufacturing Innovation: From Montana to NYC." (view below)

Kilmer introduced the video with these words: "Let me share with you a video representing two very different manufacturers. The first is P-F-M Manufacturing, a small company in Townsend, Montana … that manufactures the Land Tamer. The organization was coached by the Montana Manufacturing Extension Center … to turn several innovations into new business and increased profits.

The other is Lee Spring — a mid-sized manufacturer of springs and metal parts headquartered in Brooklyn, New York. Lee Spring has worked with ITAC, the MEP center in New York City, to expand into new business areas … When you watch the video, you will notice some Lee Spring differences between the speakers … where they're from … their lines of business … their accents … the companies are different sizes … have different customers … and come from very different locations … but there is one common factor — they both used INNOVATION to better their businesses!"

The filming for the Lee Spring portion of the NIST MEP video link above was coordinated by the Marketing and Communications Team at ITAC, New York City's MEP Center.
