First in the nation: The Department of Homeland Security partners with ITAC on NYC Manufacturing Roundtables July 21-22, 2010
On July 21 and July 22, 2010, executives from leading New York City manufacturers will gather together with representatives from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and ITAC to discuss issues critical to ensuring the security of advanced manufacturing facilities and tools in times of crisis
and to help the DHS determine the best supply chain for moving their products to larger OEMs during an emergency. Executives can choose to attend the Roundtable either day, located at NYU Poly ACRE's headquarters in lower Manhattan.
DHS' Stuart Ferency, Critical Manufacturing (CM) Branch Chief, and Sara Garretson, ITAC President, will kick off the day, followed by DHS' Fernando Keller, Chief Analyst, Intelligence & Analysis (INA), who will brief the manufacturers on security issues, terrorist threats in the U.S. and abroad and concerns related to catastrophic natural disasters.
"This first-in-the-nation DHS Critical Manufacturing sector listening session will seek to understand the homeland security concerns and needs of medium and small manufacturing critical infrastructure owners. This meeting will begin an ongoing dialogue for the exchange of ideas, concerns and best practices to most effectively secure and keep the Nation's critical manufacturing assets resilient," said Ferency.
The roundtable will create opportunities for the manufacturers to discuss how they need to respond to crises, protect their facilities, and accelerate production during and after catastrophic events and how the DHS can support manufacturers throughout the process.
The Department of Homeland Security chose ITAC to host this important event because of its relationship with critical advanced manufacturers in New York City.
ITAC (Industrial + Technology Assistance Corporation) is New York City's Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP) Center and a New York State-designated Regional Technology Development Center. ITAC is also is supported by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and the U. S. Department of Commerce.
