ITAC President, Sara Garretson,
elected to the Board of Directors of the Business Incubator Association of New York State

Sara Garretson, ITAC President, is one of three senior executives representing business incubators in diverse regions of New York State elected to the board of directors of the Business Incubator Association of New York State during its annual meeting recently at the Brooklyn campus of the Polytechnic Institute of New York University.

David Hochman, the Association's Executive Director, said: "Sara Garretson is one of the smartest thinkers and most-accomplished 'doers' about innovation and economic development in the region, and we're delighted to have her on our board representing the virtual incubation program at ITAC."

The other new members of the association's nine-person board are (alphabetically by organization name):

James Senall, president of High Tech Rochester (HTR). An affiliate of the University of Rochester, HTR owns and operates the 50,000 square-foot Lennox Tech Enterprise Center and manages the 40,000 square-foot Rochester BioVenture Center incubator.

Robert Herz, director of the South Side Innovation Center (SSIC) in Syracuse. SSIC is a 14,000 square-foot microenterprise business incubator operated by the Falcone Center for Entrepreneurship at the Whitman School of Management of Syracuse University.

Both ITAC and HTR serve high-technology and manufacturing companies through arrangements with the state agency NYSTAR and the federal agency NIST, respectively.

The Business Incubator Association has 35 members of diverse organizational type operating more than 40 facilities or virtual programs statewide.
